A planning application to build a new petrol station just a few hundred metres from Glasgow Airport has been submitted to local authorities in Scotland.
The airport is the country’s second busiest, behind only Edinburgh, and serves around 8m passengers each year.
The 3.8-acre site that EG On The Move seeks to build on is just 500m from airport land, and around half a mile from the terminal building and passenger car parks.
The plot is currently scrubland, and is well-positioned to attract airport travellers hiring cars from nearby rental firms that are within walking distance of the site.
The land also sits in close proximity to J29 of the M8 motorway, while being adjacent to the A737 and A726. The Inverclyde trainline and Paisley St James railway station are also nearby.
EGOTM is seeking to transform the plot into a modern, 24-hour filling station served by four pump islands, two 75,000-litre tanks and a 5,500sq ft shop.
A separate 3,500sq ft drive-through restaurant is also set to feature, though it is proposed this would only open from 6am to 11pm.
An EV hub with spaces for seven cars served by three charging units are included in the plans, as is parking for 52 cars, plus HGV bays.
Around 45 jobs are expected to be created by the venture, should it be approved by Renfrewshire Council.
