Esso and BP have agreed a reciprocal fuel card deal which will enable BP Plus fuel cards to be used at Esso sites and for Esso fuel cards to be used at BP sites, starting in 2016.
There are approximately 1,200 BP forecourts in the UK, which will increase the Esso card acceptance network in the UK to around 3,400 sites once the roll-out is completed. The agreement means that Esso card will be accepted at Esso, Shell and BP branded sites in the UK.
With the addition of 1,000 Esso forecourts, BP Plus fuelcards will be accepted at about 3,500 BP, Texaco, Gulf and Esso sites in the UK.
Naftali Gefen, UK fuelcard manager at BP fuelcards, said: “At BP, we are committed to expanding our offer to support our fleet customer needs. This collaboration with the Esso network of sites enables us to further improve our offer to BP Plus fleet customers, giving their drivers even more of a choice and availability when travelling throughout the UK.”
Duncan Connolly, Esso UK retails manager, said: “Drivers and fleet operators alike appreciate the flexibility and convenience of Esso card, and this arrangement with the BP network in the UK will further increase choice and availability.”
Esso card is issued and operated on Esso’s behalf by WEX Europe Services. Malcolm Joyce, WEX Europe Services managing director, said: “We are committed to developing the Esso card network and service throughout Europe, and this agreement will make life easier for drivers and fleet operators in the UK.”
