Euro Garages has more than doubled the size of its estate in the space of a year to almost 180 sites, following the deal to acquire 48 Esso sites announced last week.

The agreement to acquire the 48 Esso sites in the Midlands and east of England follows the purchase of 45 Esso sites in the north of England and North Wales, completed last January, and the company said it was on target to exceed 200 during 2014.

The 48 new sites, which will continue to supply Esso-branded fuels, will be bolstered with a comprehensive convenience store offer and Euro Garages’ ongoing capital investment plans. Customers will also benefit from brand partnerships with Greggs, Subway, Starbucks and Burger King.

Euro Garages managing director Mohsin Issa said: “The Esso sites we acquired last year as part of the North of England and North Wales package have performed extremely well, with customers benefiting from our global brand partnerships while still being able to fill up their vehicles with quality Esso fuels.

“With this latest agreement, which strengthens our national presence and extends our consumer offer in the Midlands and East of England, we aim to bring the Euro Garages retail experience to millions of new customers.”

Euro Garages chief executive Zuber Issa added: “We are looking forward to a busy 2014, integrating the new Esso sites alongside acquiring and developing new-to-industry sites. We will be looking at further acquisitions and establishing strategic alliances to grow our UK presence and continue to change the market perception of forecourt retailing. Our world-class convenience model ensures a fresh, premium offer for the consumer.”

The latest deal, due to complete in the second quarter of 2014, will mean Euro Garages employs more than 3,000 people across the UK.
