Two brothers who are identical twins have been jailed after being convicted of robbing a petrol station while armed with a knife.
Connor and Jon Keating, who were 27 at the time of the offence, entered a forecourt shop in Lambeg, a village between Lisburn and Belfast, on April 5 2024, without the means to pay for goods. The pair later returned to the garage, threatening the cashier with a knife before making off with £560 in cash.
The shop assistant was left shaken but unharmed and quickly alerted police, who arrested Jon Keating after finding him nearby shortly after he had left the scene. His brother, Connor, was arrested later following an investigation.
The brothers pleaded guilty to robbery, and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence. The judge at Craigavon Crown Court sentenced them to four years, with two in to be served in custody and two on licence.
Detective Inspector Keonfrom from Police Service Northern Ireland said the twins’ sentencing “offers reassurance that we will work tirelessly to bring offenders before the courts, so that victims receive the justice they deserve.”
