Magistrates have ordered a man to stay away from the Shell service station on Easington Road, Hartlepool, after an incident which saw a fire break out.
The order was made as part of bail conditions when Peter Cavanagh, 42, from Jute Grove in Hartlepool, appeared before Hartlepool magistrates charged with arson with intent, robbery and theft after an incident at the service station, at around 6.50pm on Monday, November 3.
Magistrates said that as the case was too serious for them to deal with, it was to be sent to Teesside Crown Court, where Cavanagh will appear on December 3.
No plea was entered to any of the three charges, and Cavanagh was bailed.
Other bail conditions are that he does not approach any prosecution witnesses, observes a curfew from 7pm-7am and lives at his home address.
