Midland Co-operative Society has signed up to the Payment Watch debt recovery scheme run by the British Oil Security Syndicate (BOSS).
It means the co-operative’s 16 forecourt sites have joined the scheme, which puts in place a co-ordinated system for recovering financial losses incurred by ‘no means of payment’ incidents.
Kevin Eastwood, executive director at BOSS, commented: “We’re very pleased to have the opportunity to extend the support offered by our Payment Watch scheme to Midland Co-op’s forecourt sites. The BOSS Payment Watch scheme is a proven service that helps to protect independent fuel retailers’ businesses financially. We’re also leading the way in identifying multiple offenders and supporting the police in pursuing persistent offenders.”
Michael Spencer, general manager of retail at Midlands Co-operative, said: “We have been impressed with the effectiveness and results of the BOSS Payment Watch scheme. All our 16 fuel filling sites are part of the scheme which has proven very successful. The reporting system in place is simple and effective for us to follow up and recoup any losses which our sites have incurred.”
