Roadchef has opened a new Spar store at its Tibshelf motorway services area (MSA) on the M1 between junctions 28 and 29, following an investment of £800,000.
The addition of a Spar to the Tibshelf MSA follows openings at the company’s Sedgemoor, Northampton and Strensham sites in recent months. The opening has created 20 new jobs, with team members able to build on their skills and knowledge through the convenience store’s ongoing training and development programmes.
The Tibshelf Spar will feature the convenience group’s latest store design, combining its value proposition with locally sourced produce and an in-store bakery that meets an increasing demand from motorists for a wider range of healthy, fresh goods.
Roadchef expects that the new convenience store will be popular with users of both the M1 and A43. The 6,000 motorists stopping at the site every day will also find a revamped Costa and Fresh Food Café at the service area.
Simon Turl, CEO of Roadchef, commented: “We are delighted to announce the opening of our fourth Spar at our Tibshelf site. In a prime location on the M1, Tibshelf is one of our key sites and an ideal place to develop our portfolio of convenience store outlets. We pride ourselves equally on the opportunities we bring to the local community, as well as facilities we provide motorists, and we’re pleased to bring this new Spar to the motorway and 20 new jobs to the area.”
