Shell UK and Waitrose are to run a joint trial of a selection of the supermarket’s products in three forecourt shops in the Birmingham area. The Waitrose convenience products will be offered alongside Shell’s current shop range to enhance the offer to customers. The trial begins this week with the launch of the Waitrose offer in a Shell forecourt on Wednesday. The range will include sandwiches, wraps and snacks, as well as a small selection of grocery items, ranging from bread and pasta to ready meals and toiletries. Depending on the outcome of the trial the two companies will decide whether to extend the offer to a larger number of Shell sites.
Melanie Lane, Shell UK retail general manager, said: "The Shell Waitrose relationship presents a very attractive offer for our customers. By bringing together Shell’s quality fuels and competitive pump prices with Waitrose’ quality convenience foods, we can offer our customers an even greater choice."
