Oil major is set to undertake significant upgrades at the Scottish site

Shell has been granted planning permission to demolish and reconstruct a filling station in Erskine, a commuter town seven miles to the west of Glasgow.

The Centreholm Roundabout forecourt sits on the A726 main road running through the middle of Erskine and was built in the early 1990s. It currently plays host to no fewer than eight underground fuel tanks plus an EV charger, which planning documents reveal is inactive.

Shell is taking a belt-and-braces approach to improving the site and, having been granted permission by Renfrewshire Council, will be knocking it down and rebuilding it with four EV charging bays and a new 2,300sq ft shop.

The four existing parking bays will grow in number to 13, though the existing tank arrangement will be retained.
