Total UK has signed a new five-year contract to supply fuel to 31 Co-op Group forecourts nationwide, representing a significant piece of business for the oil company, particularly in light of its up-for-sale status.
Richard Laden, Total UK retail director, said: "We are delighted to have completed this deal with a company like the Co-op, whose customer-centric values mirror our own."
A Co-op spokesman said: "All necessary commercial implications were considered."
Meanwhile, despite rumours that Total was close to finalising the sale of its UK marketing assets, corporate communications manager Iain Cracknell said: "At this stage the process remains ongoing and is bound by confidentiality agreements. We will only release further information should an acquisition be completed."
