No injuries or explosions were caused by the attack, but this down to luck not judgement

A 22-year-old man has been arrested after police received reports of fireworks being launched at a petrol station in Scotland.

The incident took place on Guy Fawkes’ Night (Thursday, November 5) at around 8:30pm and saw a number of fireworks land on the Gulf forecourt in Cambuslang, a town three miles south-east of Glasgow.

CCTV footage of the attack was shared on a local social media group from an anonymous poster who is beleived to work at the forecourt.

“There are real people working here, members of staff simply trying to do their jobs, and customers who are going about their everyday lives. Their safety is being put at risk for the sake of someone’s entertainment.

“Imagine being the person responsible for an incident that seriously injures someone, destroys a business or, even worse, costs someone their life. Is a few seconds of amusement really worth that?

“Our staff should not have to put themselves in danger while simply doing their jobs.

”Fireworks are not toys, and a petrol station is certainly not a place to be using them.”

Police Scotland told the Glasgow Times: “Around 8.30pm on Thursday, November 5, we received a report of fireworks being thrown in the Hamilton Road area of Cambuslang.

“Officers attended and a 22-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with culpable and reckless conduct. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
