A Jet dealer has made savings in energy costs and maintenance after installing LED lighting at one of his sites and is rolling it out to his other forecourts.
Nick Baker owns four sites: Abbeyside Service Station at Selby, North Yorkshire; Newton Park Service Station in Darlington; Balby Service Station in Doncaster; and Askern Service Station in Askern. He also operates Refinery Service Station in South Killingholme.
Nick appointed ITAB Prolight (formerly Profile Lighting) as the supplier of LED canopy lighting for the Abbeyside forecourt.
The supplier visited the site to conduct a survey of existing lighting. It undertook a lighting plot to check the new light levels would be right and proposed the correct lighting requirements for the canopy. It also conducted an energy comparison to ensure that the lights would deliver good energy savings and payback.
Nick organised the installation himself. This was undertaken by a local electrician and took one day. In total 10 LED canopy lights were installed at the site.
ITAB Prolight also made a follow-up visit to the site to ensure that the light levels were as expected.
Nick commented: "The energy savings at Abbeyside have been significant. Not only have I seen a reduction in energy costs, but also a significant reduction in maintenance costs which have been nil since installation.
"Previously I had to call a company out to undertake maintenance fairly regularly as the old lamps needed to be replaced around once every year and not all at the same time. The new LED lights are guaranteed for five years and to date there’s been no need for any maintenance at all since installation."
Nick has now installed LED on two of his other sites’ canopies Askern and Balby and is planning to do the same at Newton Park as part of a larger development project.
He has also installed 33 LED lights in the forecourt shop at Balby and will be putting new lighting in the other shops as he redevelops them. This work is programmed into a long-term site development plan.
