HTEC has launched a security device called Forecourt Protect which is aimed at helping UK fuel retailers prevent drive-offs.
The company says it runs independently of the pos, so retailers do not need to have its petrol forecourt HydraPOS system installed to benefit from the central database of ’drive-off’ records.
The system works by requesting a central database check of a car number plate and the host indicates whether the vehicle has been previously registered as a drive-off or for non-payment. The response is then passed directly to a terminal to determine the correct course of action such as allowing fuelling to commence or warning the operator that the pump should not be activated.
