Uber Technologies Inc is developing an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that will offer recommendations to food-delivery customers and help them place their orders more quickly, according to a report by Bloomberg News.
Details of the Uber program were discovered inside code hidden within the Uber Eats app. When a customer launches the chatbot, the software shows a message that says the “AI assistant was designed to help you find relevant restaurant dishes and more,” according to wording within the code, which was discovered by developer Steve Moser and shared with Bloomberg. The Uber chatbot will likely ask customers to type in their budget and food preferences and help them place an order.
Uber chief executive officer Dara Khosrowshahi had previously told Bloomberg Television that his company was working on an AI chatbot. He said Uber had already been using AI to match customers to drivers and couriers.
According to Yahoo.com, Uber Eats is in a race with DoorDash Inc and Instacart to use AI first to improve food deliveries.
