EG Group has applied for retrospective planning permission for a drive-thru restaurant, car parking and landscaping at its Manchester Road site on the outskirts of Bolton.
The new plans are for a Chaii-Wala, which is a popular Indian street food brand with over 60 stores in the UK. Chaii Wala has committed to open a further 60 new sites next year and intends to create 500 UK outlets overall. The drive-thru at the EG site will be its first.
The site will have 29 parking bays including two disabled spaces and four EV charging points.
New access into the proposed development site will be located on the service road to the rear of the petrol filling station with a new footpath and zebra crossing.
In a statement to Bolton Council, EG said: “The scheme is supported by previous planning permission and technical reports which clearly demonstrate there are no harmful impacts resulting from the proposed development. For all these reasons, it is considered that full planning permission for the proposed development should be granted.”
The plans are open for consultation until December 8.
