Ellan Vannin Fuels (EVF) will be providing post office services for Kirk Michael on the Isle of Man from Thursday March 2.

Following a procurement process, Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) announced that the EVF forecourt located on Main Road in the village will be providing counter services as well as a parcel collection service. Initially the opening hours will be 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 10am to midday on Saturdays while training is undertaken. From week commencing March 13 the hours will extend to 9am to 5.30pm in the week and 9am to 12.30pm on Saturdays, with parcel collection services available at all times when EVF’s main facilities are open.

Stu Peters MHK, chairman of IOMPO, said: “We are delighted to welcome EVF as the new provider in Kirk Michael and hope the residents will welcome the return of a postal counter, as well a parcel collection service, to the village. The location offers extended opening hours, improved parking facilities and good levels of accessibility. We would like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding while the procurement exercise was undertaken.”

The news follows an earlier announcement that EVF will be providing postal services from its New Road, Laxey site until June 30, 2023. The IOMPO said EVF would offer longer hours than the previous post office which would be welcome news for customers.

The limited term contract with EVF will give the IOMPO board time to complete the work with the Council of Ministers on the future requirements for key government services and the community retail network service provision beyond June 30, 2023.
