Top 50 Indie The Kay Group is currently rolling out Forecourt Eye ANPR across its estate following a successful trial last year at Rockingham Service Station in Barnsley.
Ashley Kay, director at The Kay Group, says fuel crime has a negative impact on employees as well as a financial one on the business: “Fuel crime isn’t just a financial loss. It hits staff morale. Our teams are proud of their sites but often feel powerless when incidents happen. We needed a way to protect them as much as the business.”
“Before, we had no way of knowing who we were dealing with. Now we can identify repeat offenders early and prevent a loss before it happens.”
The Kay Group’s use of Forecourt Eye’s services comes as the security company reports a big reduction in repeat offender activity at ANPR-connected sites across its network.
Network activity data for October and November 2025 indicates that ANPR-connected sites saw an average 66.7% reduction in repeat offender activity compared with non-ANPR sites. And while this figure represents an average across the two-month period reviewed, some users have seen reductions in repeat offender activity by as much as 77%.
The Leeds-based company is now inviting any forecourt operators with existing cameras to connect to the Forecourt Eye platform for free.
Michelle Henchoz, managing director at Forecourt Eye, says: “These figures reinforce what our customers tell us every day: when forecourts connect their ANPR into a live and significant intelligence network, repeat offenders lose their advantage.
“It reduces the frequency of repeat incidents and helps teams manage fuel crime more confidently, with fewer operational disruptions.”
She adds: “Many forecourts already have ANPR cameras in place, and so if you’re not yet connected to Forecourt Eye, we’re inviting you to join our network for free. There’s no charge to connect, and we’ll support onboarding, so operators can immediately benefit from access to the UK’s largest fuel-crime intelligence database.”
Repeat offender (RO) activity by site type (November 2025):
Non-ANPR sites
RO incident volume: 33%
RO £ value: 44%
Average value per incident: £74
ANPR-connected sites
RO incident volume: 11%
RO £ value: 12%
Average value per incident: £65
Henchoz says the data suggests that connected sites not only see materially fewer repeat offender incidents, but that when repeat offending does occur, the average value per incident is lower at ANPR-connected sites.
“When repeat offending does occur at an ANPR-connected site, this is usually because the vehicle has been driven on the forecourt via an exit route, or by tailgating another vehicle upon entry. This figure can also be impacted by a site’s operational compliance and how the incident was managed. The difference in incident value can be due to an offender seeking to leave the forecourt at haste.”
• Forecourt operators interested in connecting existing camera systems to the Forecourt Eye platform should contact the company for onboarding support and eligibility details. The free offer is subject to a technical survey of current camera equipment to check compatibility.
