The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is investigating two major deals involving the road fuels retail market.

Its involvement in the MFG/MRH deal looked close to completion, as Forecourt Trader went to press, after it identified 29 sites where there were local competition issues, and MFG indicated it would act to address this.

Meanwhile, the CMA confirmed the start of a formal investigation into the proposed merger between Sainsbury’s and Asda. For more information see page 10.
