A cashpoint manufacturer has had to apply for planning consent after installing an ATM at a filling station in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, without having obtained the requisite approval of the local authority.

NCR Atleos is the world’s largest provider of cashpoints and has a £2.5bnbn market cap, but in October 2025 it failed to apply for planning permission when installing an ATM at the Gulf-liveried Mansfield Service Station, which adjoins the A38.

The firm is now seeking the necessary rubber stamp from Mansfield District Council, setting out its position as it does so that it considers the cashpoint “is not detrimental to the existing street scene”.

The firm also highlights the ATM sits almost flush with the building in which it was installed, adding that it supports local businesses and provides a useful service to  residents.

NCR Alteos also notes that the cashpoint’s location met with the approval of security firm Cash In Transit, while the only modification made to the forecourt revolved around altering two panes of glass.
