A new EV charging hub planned for Coventry looks set to follow in the footsteps of traditional roadside services, with 12 recharging bays joined by an on-site shop, together with a drive-thru restaurant and cafe.
The proposed site is a stone’s throw away from Coventry Building Society Arena, home to Coventry City FC, and sits on land formerly occupied by a working men’s club.
Originally only a drive-thru restaurant was planned for the site, but developer Redleaf, which co-owns the lease for the land alongside Coventry City Council, now intends to install an ultra-rapid EV charging hub alongside a restaurant and coffee shop, with the chargers supplied and operated by established operator Osprey.
Some 165 new jobs are set to be created by the scheme if the plans are approved by the local authority.
