Work on Gridserve’s latest Electric Forecourt is set to complete this summer, with the firm announcing it has appointed a manager for the site once it is up and running.
Work on the Markham Vale site, which will be Gridserve’s fifth Electric Forecourt, began in April 2024. The site, which is just of J29A of the M1, is set to offer 30 EV charging bays spaces across 25 ultra-rapid 350kW bays, five slower, 22kW chargers, and three dedicated spots for electric HGVs to recharge.
In keeping with Gridserve’s other offerings, Markham Vale will also offer meeting rooms, a lounge, a convenience shop and a children’s play area, with the retail offerings occupying the first floor and being visible to passing motorists on the motorway.
The site sits on the edge of the Peak District roughly four miles to the east of Chesterfield, and the completion of the hub will double the number of charging bays available in the area.
Gridserve has now appointed a manager for the site in anticipation of its opening in the coming months, with Ross Watson joining the firm following three decades in the hospitality sector.
Watson predicts: “Once you charge here, I’m confident you won’t want to go anywhere else.”
