Fleet owners will be able to try out hydrogen vehicles in a series of workshops and ‘ride and drive’ events being organised in Yorkshire, London and Essex.
ITM Power is collaborating with Toyota, Hyundai, Arcola Energy, Symbio FC and GreenTomatoCars to put on the events.
The initiative follows the opening of the first hydrogen refuelling stations under the Government’s Hydrogen for Transport Advancement Programme, which is funding the development of 12 stations to be operational by the end of 2016, and plans for an initial national network of 65 stations.
Now that the stations are coming on-line the Government is launching a £2m Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Fleet Support Scheme competition, to provide support for private and public sector fleets. The events are a response to that development.
The first event will be on Monday 23 May at the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) in Rotherham, where fleet managers can test drive the Toyota Mirai, the Hyundai ix35 FC and a Symbio FC van.
The workshops will move to Teddington and Guildhall in London on May 24 and 25, and, Rainham, Essex, on May 26.
