Jet is running a Local Hero campaign aimed at helping its dealers gain more
publicity in their local media.
The campaign was developed in response to Jet’s internal ’Raising the Dealer Profile’ survey, which found that 80% of site owners felt local publicity would boost their businesses.
As part of the Local Hero initiative, each dealer has received a PR toolkit which includes example press releases, tips on writing, as well as advice on photography and speaking to the press.
Jet marketing manager Patrick Hudson said the oil company had already received some very positive feedback from site owners who believe the extra publicity will help increase their profits.
One Jet retailer who says he has benefited from the campaign is Peter Fowler, manager of Bellingers Service Station in Oxford. His story appeared in the Oxford Mail - publicising the fact that his customers could fill up with fuel and home-brewed ales at the site. Peter has just expanded his Pitstop Brewery, which can now produce 180 gallons a day. As well as selling to consumers from the forecourt shop, Peter supplies free houses within a 50-mile radius, beer festivals and parties. He said: "The Local Hero campaign has helped me to achieve some fantastic press coverage and I’m sure that our sales will increase as a result."
