Lomond Service Station, which forms part of the deal, was rebuilt in 2023

Top 50 Indie Karan Retail has further grown its presence north of the border with the acquisition of four sites from a family-run firm.

The firm, which now operates around 60 forecourts, bought its 10th Scottish site in late 2025, and in March this year acquired a filling station in the Highlands.

The ‘HIA’ portfolio comprises four BP forecourts, all with Spar shops. Lomond Service Station in Jamestown, and Clydebank Service Station are both West Dunbartonshire; Hillfoot Service Station sits in Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire; and Old Toll Garage can be found in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire.

Combined, the sites vend 13mlpa and enjoy “very strong” shop sales, according to property firm Graham + Sibbald, which brokered the off-market deal.

Clydebank Service Station extended into a pub when the tavern closed in 2017

Lomond Service Station was knocked down and rebuilt as recently as 2023, while it and the Old Toll and Clydebank sites offer Subway concessions. Clydebank is also notable as its previous owners acquired an adjoining pub when it ceased trading in 2017, and expanded the forecourt’s shop into the building. The forecourts occupy plots ranging from 0.37 to 0.61 acres.

Brogan Grier, the senior director at Graham + Sibbald who helped put the deal together, said he was “delighted to have been involved in the negotiations”, adding that the acquisitions “geographically complement Karan’s other forecourts”.
