Londis is investing £4m to expand its fresh food business, including giving its entire fleet full chilled capacity for the first time. The symbol group said the new fleet will speed up the journey from manufacturer to depot, to shop, and ensure that retailers manage their fresh offering more effectively.
The 72-piece fleet is said to offer a "sound and ecological investment for Londis".
Londis brand owner, Musgrave Retail Partners, partnered with Mercedes-Benz for the tractors and rigid vehicles, which have the most environmentally-friendly Euro 5 compliant engines.
Scott Wharton, the company’s supply chain director, said: "We can now offer Londis retailers a complete service for fresh produce and reduce the impact of our operations on the environment."
