Murco Petroleum and Costcutter Supermarkets Group are to continue their partnership with a new three-year contract to supply Murco’s 230 company-owned forecourts across the UK. This further extends the relationship between the two companies that began in 1996 and covers both the Murco full supermarket and smaller ’Express’ store formats.
Costcutter’s new buy and supply arrangements, which include the partnership with Palmer and Harvey, was particularly significant in Murco’s decision to sign the new multi-million pound contract. In addition, two other factors that influenced Murco were the imminent introduction of a new Costcutter own brand, called Independent, and a considerably improved multi-temperature delivery service through 14 depots.
Gary Pearce, Murco’s general manager non-fuel, said: "We are confident that with Costcutter we can continue to provide customers with an exceptional product range, top name brands at great prices, value promotions and an attractive shopping environment."
Jamie Davison, sales director at Costcutter, said: "Through our partnership with Palmer and Harvey, we are well-placed to meet the needs of Murco’s large network."
