Motorway services operator Welcome Break has acquired Cornwall Services on the A30, 15 miles to the west of Bodmin.
The facility opened in 2014 and remains the county’s only major services, playing host to a Shell filling station, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Costa, Greggs, Mountain Warehouse and Co-op, amongst others.
Its acquisition means Welcome Break’s services portfolio now stands at 36. The firm, which is owned by Irish company Applegreen, itself majority owned by US private-equity firm Blackstone, also operates a number of Applegreen forecourts, which remained under the Welcome Break umbrella when EG On The Move purchased 98 Applegreens in February last year.
A spokesperson for Welcome Break said: “We are delighted to add what is a very popular service area to our existing Motorway Network in the UK. We look forward to working with the brands that are on site, and will continue to offer road users to opportunity to rest, refuel and continue on their journey as they travel in and out of Cornwall.”
