Valero won the Oil Company Initiative award for its multi-million pound investment in improvements to the Manchester Terminal and Mainline Pipeline.

In 2013, Valero re-opened the Manchester Terminal and re-commissioned the northern leg of the Mainline pipeline connecting Manchester to the Pembroke refinery.

Valero said that the pipeline provided security of supply to the North West region and it had strengthened its supply capability, enabling it to offer competitive deals to retailers.

Peter Brough, managing director of Manor Service Stations, which signed five sites over to the Texaco brand, said: "We’re pleased to have the terminal in the North, which is pipeline fed. It was one of the selling points of the deal."
