Police officers in Derbyshire used a drone to help round up a group of teenagers suspected of being passengers in a car that was involved in a drive-off incident in Buxton, Derbyshire.
Staff at the petrol station in Leek Road in the town called police just after 1am on Sunday 16 May to report that a Ford Focus had left the forecourt and the driver had allegedly filled up with fuel without paying for it.
Patrolling officers saw the car being driven along the A6 in Matlock Bath and followed it, and then stopped it in Idridgehay, where the passengers attempted to escape.
A local officer with a drone was deployed to help in the search for people from the car, and three teenagers, two aged 17 and one aged 16, were arrested on suspicion of theft. The two 17-year-olds were also arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis. They have been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
A fourth boy, aged 16, later visited a police station for a voluntary interview.
