A filling station on a main road in Great Missenden that ceased trading and fell into disrepair several years ago is to be rejuvenated after the local authority granted planning permission for an independent operator to recommission the site.

Deep Mill Service Station sits astride the A413 as it passes through the Buckinghamshire village, and used to be one of two petrol stations serving the main road.

The forecourt on the opposite side of the road now trades as a van-sales business, but Deep Mill Service Station has been abandoned for at least seven years.

Now, independent operators named as Bowry in planning documents have gained consent to bring the site back to life.

While plans for the project are scant, the developers will retain and redevelop the site’s existing structures rather than knocking down and rebuilding, though the station’s tanks, which appear to date back to 1987 based on past planning decisions, may need to be replaced.

Historic imagery shows the site used to host a jet wash, which drawings indicate will be relocated to the rear of the shop, while the forecourt is slated to open between 6am and 10pm during the week, closing at 11pm on Saturdays and 9pm on Sundays.
