Two new Ionity charging hubs have opened in Scotland, while rising customer demand has seen Gridserve double the number of bays on offer at a Wiltshire retail park.
The Ionity sites are located in Glasgow and Fort William, with the former comprising 12 ultra-rapid charging bays at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Strathclyde, and the latter featuring six bays delivering electricity at a similar speed just off the A82 main road. Both Scottish projects were undertaken by engineering form Actemium on behalf of Ionity, which is co-owned by several leading automotive companies.
The Wiltshire project, meanwhile, has seen Gridserve double the number of charging bays offered at Solstice Park, with eight new spots being added to what remains a key stop-off for travellers using the A303 trunk road.
Grant Murray, rollout manager at Ionity called the new Scottish hubs “important additions” to the firm’s expanding network, while George Lloyd, Gridserve’s group head of delivery said the Solstice Park additions are “a testament to the dedication and expertise of the team, as well as the long-term relationships we have developed with our partners”.
