East Suffolk Council has granted planning permission for MFG to significantly update a BP filling station in Martlesham, a village to the east of Ipswich.
The improvements to the Martlesham Heath Service Station on the A12 will comprise adding a 753sq ft extension to the 452sq ft shop, installing four jet-wash bays and constructing four EV charging bays.
The shop extension will leave the existing retail space untouched, with the addition comprising a new café complete with tables and seating. Planning documents reveal the café is “likely to be a Pret [A Manger]”.
Similarly, the forecourt’s four pump islands will be unaffected by the development, while the new charging bays will be covered with a canopy and served by Alpitronic units. The four jet-wash machines will feature screens between each bay, replacing an existing rollover car wash and single jet-wash machine.
