Certas Energy, the largest supplier to independent forecourts in the UK, is the new principal sponsor of the prestigious Forecourt Trader of the Year Awards which take place in September at the Hilton Hotel on London’s Park Lane. Established in 1996 to reward excellence in the petrol retailing sector, the Awards provide the primary platform to showcase the industry and are always eagerly awaited and a popular fixture.

Ramsay MacDonald, retail director, Certas Energy, said: "This occasion is the one true annual event when the whole industry gathers together and we know just what it means to win at these highly respected awards. There is a strong fit with our own business; Certas Energy champions the cause of the independent retailer and prides itself on providing the highest standard of service to its customers. We believe, like the retailers, in working hard, day in, day out to drive up service excellence within the industry and recognise those whose high operating principles and entrepreneurial skills set the standards to which others aspire.

"It also seems an appropriate time for both Certas Energy and Gulf to increase their visibility. When I first joined the company, our aim was to become a top-four retail fuel supplier and while there is still plenty to work on, I think it’s fair to say that we are heading in the right direction. Our network of Gulf branded forecourts looks set to grow beyond 500 sites by the year end and it’s pleasing to note that we have won the trust of many of the UK’s top independent forecourt dealers across the UK. They are now our customers and recognise Certas Energy as a supplier willing to fight their corner, reduce their prices and help them make more money."

Forecourt Trader’s publishing director Lorraine Hendle, said: "We are delighted to welcome Certas Energy as the principal sponsor of our acclaimed Forecourt Trader of the Year awards for 2015. This is an exciting opportunity and we look forward to working with the Certas Energy team and building a long and mutually beneficial relationship together."
