It’s time to whip out those loo brushes and polish up your pans, because the competition to find the nation’s best forecourt loo is back following its successful launch last year, sponsored again by janitorial supplies specialist RS Sales and Distribution.

The competition will again run via a Facebook campaign, which will open up discussion, engage with consumers, and encourage them to join in the hunt for the best forecourt loo.

Research has shown that the majority of your customers consider the lack of well-maintained toilet facilities as the greatest source of irritation about a service station.

Most believe that either introducing toilets or improving the existing facilities is the number one step forecourts could take in order to attract more female shoppers.

Chief among the irritants is forcing customers to ask for a key to access the poor-quality facilities the key is apparently a major factor in their distaste for using forecourt loos.

So this year we will continue our campaign to raise the profile of the UK’s forecourt conveniences, by giving you the chance to show off your super loos.

The main criteria to be a winner include: quality of facilities, appearance, hygiene, cleanliness, accessibility, maintenance and signposting plus, of course, a Facebook page and a supportive customer base. All you have to do is send in your nominations with relevant photography so that we can put your facilities online to face a public vote. You will need to encourage your customers to ’like’ your loo. The site with the most ’likes’ subject to complying with the competition criteria will be named as Best Forecourt Loo 2014. The deadline for votes is Friday, March 14.

The results will be announced at the National Convenience Show, which runs at the NEC, Birmingham from March 24-26.

Send your nominations in to merril.boulton@wrbm.com. Make sure you ’Like’ the Facebook page Forecourt Trader Best Forecourt Loo, and encourage your colleagues and customers to do the same.
