Costco opened a new petrol station at its South Oak Way, Reading site last week. Its Kirkland Signature fuel is only available to members who have to pay £33.60 for an individual membership or £26.40 for trade membership. However, its fuel prices are extremely competitive. On the Costco website it says the prices at Reading are 149.9ppl for unleaded, 157.7ppl for premium unleaded and 171.9ppl for premium diesel.
Its prices are a big hit with members, so much so that only a few days ago there was a story on a Derbyshire news website about long queues for Costco petrol ‘causing havoc’ for shoppers trying to get to other shops.
Costco’s forecourts are unmanned, with drivers having to swipe their Costco member’s card first to give them access to the pumps.
