Magistrates have banned a woman from the petrol forecourts of three M4 service stations in Berkshire and Wiltshire after she scammed customers into giving her money.
Charlotte Branford, aged 41, of Godolphin Close, Swindon, appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on Thursday January 12 and received a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) after she pleaded guilty to three counts of fraud by false representation offences.
Thames Valley Police said the CBO was granted as a result of Branford visiting service stations in Berkshire and Wiltshire and approaching members of the public using a false story to ask for money to pay for fuel. It said she preyed on and took advantage of people’s good nature.
The CBO, which is in place for two years, prohibits Branford from going to or entering Membury service grounds, Leigh Delamere service grounds and Chieveley service grounds, including the petrol forecourts.
It also prohibits her from approaching any member of the public to solicit money or goods using a false story in Berkshire and Wiltshire.
If the CBO is breached she can be arrested and brought back before the courts.
