Both the RAC and the AA have praised retailers for passing on savings on lower wholesale fuel prices to their customers.
RAC head of external affairs Pete Williams said: "Motorists often complain that prices seem to go up far faster than they come down, but this autumn is proof that this is not necessarily the case."
AA president Edmund King said: "The AA is encouraged by the growing band of non-supermarket retailers challenging supermarkets whose prices in many places are far less generous."
