Duracell E-Charge is slowly but surely building up its portfolio of EV hubs in the UK, opening a new 10-bay station in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
The firm announced last year it is setting £200m aside over the next decade to enter the UK chargepoint sector.
Since then Duracell E-Charge, a UK chargepoint firm that licenses the US battery brand, has installed a number of bays across the country, predominantly around Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle. The company’s latest project is in the further south, comprising a 10-bay hub in a council-run car park in Cheltenham.
The St. James Street Car Park site is host to five Duracell E-Charge branded devices, each serving two bays. All the devices are Alpitronic Hyperchargers, with three configured to deliver up to 300kW and two limited to 50kW.
Prices for the plugs stand at 85p per kWh, or 80p for drivers using the Duracell E-Charge app, with the St. James Street project being the second hub Duracell E-Charge has installed in the town. The firm currently has 50 UK charging bays spread across seven locations.
Councillor Richard Pineger, Cheltenham Borough Council’s cabinet member for climate emergency, comments: “This new hub, delivered at no cost to the taxpayer, provides ultra-rapid charging for people who need to get back on the road quickly”.
