A little over a year since it was granted planning permission, EG On The Move has opened the pumps at a new-to-sector site in Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear.
Rainton Services sits roughly three miles north-east of Junction 62 of the A1(M), and five miles south-west of Sunderland city centre. It forms part of EGOTM’s plans to have at least 400 sites by the end of the decade, with the firm hitting the 150-forecourt milestone in April last year.
The new forecourt features a Spar shop complete with Greggs concession, a separate Starbucks drive-thru, and four ultra-rapid EV charging bays. Around 45 jobs are thought to have been created by the project.
