A planning application to construct a new petrol station has received a slew of objections from residents, with the local authority warning developers its proposals are “highly unlikely to be supported”.
Venari Fuels is seeking to build a new-to-sector site on farmland close to the Riseholme roundabout joining the A15 and A46 to the north of Lincoln. The forecourt would feature EV charging, HGV parking and a drive-through coffee shop.
West Lindsey District Council has previously warned the developers their plans are unlikely to be successful, while 73 locals have raised objections to the proposals, Lincs Online reports, citing concerns over increased traffic and noise, amongst other issues.
City of Lincoln Council and Nettleham Parish Council have also objected to the development, with the former warning that the 24-hour site would increase noise and pollution were it to be approved, and the latter saying a new petrol station would “‘seriously disrupt the flow of traffic” and potentially cause an increase in collisions.
Lincolnshire County Council, meanwhile, has pointed out there is a filling station nearby, namely EG On The Move’s Lincolnshire Showground site.
The developers argue the project would be “‘ideally positioned to meet the needs of the passing motorist”, while one resident has voiced support for the plans as they would bring jobs to the area.
