Name: Renee Semiz

Job title: Managing director, UK marketing

Company: Phillips 66 Limited

01 Career history: I started as a chemical engineer in refining, worked 10 years in that sector before moving to Phillips 66 corporate HQ in Houston to work in commercial. I had various roles before coming to London in January 2021 as managing director, UK marketing.

02 Dream job – if you weren’t doing this: Growing up I always wanted to be a doctor. I was fascinated with the idea of performing surgeries and improving the lives of people.

03 What do you drive? I’m London based –

so it’s the Tube.

04 What would you like to drive? My dream car is a ‘65 Shelby AC Cobra.

05 Perfect day? Waking up on the beach, having a cup of coffee, watching the sea and listening to the waves. Definitely a case of the calm before the storm, because then it’s a packed day of full-on high adrenalin activities! Rounded off by a great meal with my family.

06 Favourite team:

Definitely NFL football’s New Orleans Saints.

07 Favourite read: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

08 Favourite film:

The Shawshank Redemption.

09 Best holiday: Belize. We stayed in a modern treehouse and went on excursions every day.

10 Possessions you couldn’t do without: The only thing I couldn’t do without is my family.

11 Most admire: People who are able to overcome big life challenges.

12 Most likely to say: “It could always be worse!”

13 Least likely to say: “I want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane” (Skydiving? No thank you!).

14 Greatest

achievement: Raising my two teenage girls to be great kids and (almost) responsible young adults.

15 Tips for business success: Take care of your people and they will take care of the business.

16 Best business advice you’ve received: The higher you go, the longer your shadow…

17 Best thing about your job: Working with the most outstanding people here at Phillips 66.

18 Most recent business achievement/s of note: Bringing renewable diesel to market.

19 Thoughts on the forecourt sector: Now is an exciting time to be in the retail business as we are on the forefront of the energy transition. Forecourts will play a key role in not only continuing to provide products and services, but all kinds of energy, including: fossil fuels, renewable diesel, electric vehicle charging and hydrogen.

20 Three words to describe yourself: Passionate. Driven. Mom.
