Horses are a passion for Shell’s Jane Lindsay-Green so much so that her favourite vehicle would be a horse-drawn carriage
Career history: I’ve been lucky to have a really varied career, from spending time in the fashion world, to working for a telecoms company, as well as time in shipping, FMCG and now energy! I joined Shell in 2005, and have held global roles in strategy, marketing, operations and global retail before joining the UK retail team in 2016.
Dream job if you weren’t doing this: Horse riding and racing are huge passions of mine, and so I’d love to present the horse racing on TV.
What would you like to drive: A carriage and four horses not very practical, I know!
Perfect day: A sunny day with family, a picnic and horse racing sounds like paradise.
Favourite team: Manchester United.
Favourite read: Virgil’s Aeneid I first read it many years ago, and it’s one that I keep going back to.
Favourite film: Star Wars Episode IV, without a doubt. I am a big fan of sci-fi, and the classics are always the best!
Best holiday: The Philippines, which is still relatively undiscovered as a travel destination from the UK. I couldn’t recommend it enough.
Possessions you couldn’t do without: A very practical answer my contact lenses!
Most likely to say: "What if?"
Least likely to say: "That is a rubbish idea"
Greatest achievement: My garden. It’s one space where I can really unwind.
Pet hate: Mobile phones at dinner.
Tips for business success: I always say that you need to visualise success. You need to picture what success really looks like before you go for it.
Most admire: Another horsey answer Sir Anthony McCoy really inspires me. He was champion jump jockey 20 times.
Best business advice you’ve received: Don’t limit yourself.
Best thing about your job: It allows me to be pioneering and try new things.
Most recent business achievement of note: Launching Shell Recharge last year. The UK was the first market to launch our on-forecourt electric vehicle rapid charging service and it’s really rewarding to hear the feedback from EV drivers.
Thoughts on the forecourt sector: It’s a tremendously exciting time for the sector, as no one knows exactly what a low-carbon future will look like.
Three words to describe yourself: Curious, creative and determined.
