System links footage and data from Big Brother’s ‘Watch-it’ system with EPOS data

A “groundbreaking” partnership between security firm Big Brother and Epos provider Madic that allows till-point data to be automatically synchronised with footage from ANPR and CCTV systems has been announced.

The deal means that operators using Madic’s EPOS can now synchronise customer transactions with Big Brother’s Watch-it technology, automatically producing a package of information that includes the sales event plus corresponding CCTV and/or ANPR footage.

This means that rather than having to manually search through footage when a questionable transaction occurs, retailers with Madic EPOS systems have a ready-made dataset on hand.

As a practical example, if a customer fails to declare they have drawn fuel when making a shop purchase, corresponding CCTV and ANPR footage will be automatically linked to the transaction, providing operators with all available information at once. Other applications include the investigation of cancelled payments, as well as the tracking of individual product sales.

Big Brother’s chief executive, Aart van Rooijen, says the system gives retailers “the ability to connect transaction data with visual evidence transforms how operators prevent losses, monitor activity, and streamline processes.”

Madic’s managing director, Adrian Felton, commented: “By uniting secure transactions with clear video evidence, we are equipping retailers with the tools they need to operate more intelligently and securely.”
