Top 50 Indie Symonds Forecourts has launched a management training academy to develop a pool of future managers and supervisors from within the business.
The Somerset-based retailer aims to attract the best candidates at sales advisor and supervisor level through the opportunity to grow and develop within the company.
The 12-month programme includes training modules on ordering stock, driving sales, managing people, handling known and unknown losses, managing fuel, due diligence, managing fresh foods, minimising costs and individual training needs.
Nick Lloyd, managing director of Symonds Forecourts, said: “Initiatives such as these are really important in our sector, and can demonstrate how we can attract, develop and retain excellent candidates, who are entrepreneurial in their approach and can really help grow independent businesses.”
Originally planned for six to eight candidates, the Symonds training academy has taken on 10 of the 12 applicants for the inaugural programme.
