MFG’s distinctive chargers have become a familiar site across the country

MFG’s £400m investment into EV charging has seen it ranked the second-best major network provider in the UK with the firm only being bested by Tesla, many of whose chargers require a Tesla car to use.

The results come from chargepoint mapping firm Zapmap’s eighth annual customer satisfaction survey, which this year saw just under 4,000 drivers polled.

Tesla was the best regarded chargepoint operator for networks comprising over 500 rapid/ultra-rapid devices. The firm has around 2,000 Supercharger devices, 1,115 of which are accessible to non-Tesla drivers. The network scored 4.8 out of five in the survey, with drivers praising Supercharger reliability and pricing.

MFG’s 1,300 EV Power devices are spread across 522 locations and generated a score of 3.9, placing it second in the large category for the second time in a year. Drivers report MFG chargers are reliable and easy to use, while also accepting a wide range of payment options. Ionity and Osprey came joint third in the large provider category, scoring 3.8 apiece.

Sainsbury’s Smart Charge network topped the medium rapid/ultra/rapid category, with its 335 devices securing a score of 4.4, thanks partly to competitive pricing and the ability for drivers to accrue Nectar points when recharging.

Be.EV took the silver medal in the medium category with a score of 4.3, while Fastned finished third, scoring 4.2. Arnold Clark’s Clark Charge network, launched in March of this year and already comprising 57 locations, was awarded the ‘best up and coming network’ gong, with the judges recognising its competitive pricing and bookable charging spots.

Martin Symes, MFG’s EV director, said the company remains committed to providing “convenient, reliable, and high-quality EV charging experiences for drivers”, and will “continue to invest in our infrastructure to ensure we meet the needs of both current and future EV drivers”.
