Five-year deal comes as both firms target forecourt expansion

Ascona Group has renewed its contract with Co-op Wholesale, signing for all its 62 filling stations to be stocked with grocery products by the firm for the next half decade.

The deal echoes trends both companies have been manifesting of late. Ascona has purchased several forecourts in recent months as it aims to have 150 sites under its control within three years, while Co-op Wholesale has been targeting forecourts as part of its expansion plans, and in March this year rebranded from Nisa Wholesale - though no changes are being made to Nisa fascias (seen above) as part of this.

Announcing the five-year resigning, Ascona’s founder and chief executive, Darren Briggs, commented: “A first-class roadside retail destination is at the heart of what we do at Ascona, which is why we choose to partner with operators like Co-op Wholesale”.

Paul Webster, Co-op Wholesale’s sales and partnerships director, described Ascona as “one of the standout growth stories in the forecourt sector over the last decade”, and said his firm is “delighted to extend our partnership for a further five years”.
