Ridgway Service Station: £1,000 donation to the Tyne and Wear HSG team

Funding to local charities and worthwhile causes as part of Gulf Retail’s award-winning Oomph loyalty platform reached £50,000 this month.

The initiative allows participating forecourts to nominate a local good cause for a £1,000 donation with one of the most recent recipients, Tyne and Wear HSG, a junior football club based in South Shields who play in the Northumberland League.

Coach Paul Kirton was delighted when his local Gulf forecourt, Ridgeway Service Station told him the good news: “Wow, I still can’t believe we’ve been so lucky - the petrol station I go into everyday put my football team forward a few months ago and I had forgotten about it. When I went to the garage and they told me our team would receive £1000, I thought it was a wind up. This will go so far to help a grassroots football team and I am so grateful to the staff at Ridgeway Service Station for putting us forward and Gulf for running this very worthwhile programme.”

For Gulf Retail, marketing manager Gerry Welsh says: “In a year where grass roots organisations and local charities have been struggling for funding, we are delighted to have distributed more than £50,000 thanks to the collective efforts of Gulf forecourts across the UK, their staff and customers. The versatility of Oomph enables forecourts to engage more meaningfully with their customers and forge even closer links within their communities.“
